Biografie

Dr. Kris Buedts heeft uitgebreide training in orthopedische chirurgie gevolgd, zowel in binnen- als buitenland, met specialisatie in perifere orthopedische chirurgie. Zijn medische carrière begon in 1993 met afstuderen als Doctor in de Geneeskunde, Chirurgie en Verloskunde. Als gelicensieerd wedstrijdzwemmer heeft hij grote interesse in sportgerelateerde aandoeningen.

Hij vervolgde specialisatie in orthopedie aan de Universiteit van Antwerpen met focus op voet- en enkelpathologie. Dr. Buedts voltooide opleiding aan Royal College of Surgeons, Beaumont Hospital (Ierland) en rondde fellowship af in Voet- en Enkelchirurgie aan Southern Californian Orthopedic Institute, Los Angeles onder Richard Ferkel, en aan KU Leuven onder Prof. Dereymaeker.

Hij is lid van vooraanstaande medische verenigingen met talrijke lezingen en publicaties. Dr. Buedts richt zich specifiek op enkel- en achtervoetchirurgie met sterke focus op sportblessures en osteoartritisproblemen. Geassocieerd met Foot and Ankle Institute Brussel en Delta ziekenhuis; consulent aan UZ Gent.

Momenteel leidt hij jonge collega's uit Europa op tot voet- en enkelchirurgen met fellowshipprogramma.

Pijnlijke aandoening met aanzienlijke impact op levenskwaliteit. Tot 60% patiënten hebben eerder ongeval gehad. Breed scala behandelingsmogelijkheden: niet-operatieve tot operatieve correcties (gewrichtssparende operaties, enkelprothese, artrodese).

Medische ingreep voor diverse problemen in enkelgewricht. Enkel is schakel tussen onderbeen en voet, cruciaal voor stabiliteit en correcte functie. Grondige onderzoek om probleem vast te stellen, gevolgd door patiëntspecifieke behandeling.

Revisiechirurgie

Proces waarbij eerder behandelde lichaamsdeel opnieuw wordt geopereerd door complicaties of onbevredigend resultaat. Doel: functie verbeteren of pijn verlichten. Aanpak op maat per patiënt essentieel.

Voetchirurgie

Voetchirurgie

Complex geheel van botten, gewrichten en pezen. Voet bevat 26 botten en 33 gewrichten voor stabiliteit en beweging. Verstoord evenwicht kan vervormingen veroorzaken aan voet en tenen.
