Biography

Dr. Kris Buedts earned his Doctor of Medicine, Surgery, and Obstetrics degree in 1993. A former competitive swimmer, he developed strong interest in sports-related conditions. He specialized in orthopedics at the University of Antwerp, focusing on foot and ankle pathology both domestically and internationally.

His training included orthopedic work at Royal College of Surgeons, Beaumont Hospital (Ireland), plus a fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery at Southern Californian Orthopedic Institute, Los Angeles under Richard Ferkel, and at KU Leuven under Prof. Dereymaeker.

Currently, Dr. Buedts specializes in ankle and hindfoot surgery, emphasizing sports injuries and ankle osteoarthritis. He works with the Foot and Ankle Institute in Brussels and Delta hospital, while serving as consultant at UZ Gent supporting scientific research.

He trains emerging foot and ankle surgeons from across Europe through a fellowship program.
